Cancelling your Appointment
If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone or use the link at the bottom of this page to cancel your appointment.

Test Results
Please telephone for any results after 2pm and try NOT to telephone during morning or evening surgery when the staff on the desk are extremely busy. We would appreciate your consideration in this matter.

When calling for an appointment, our receptionists will offer various kinds of appointments:

 * Same day emergency appointments for urgent issues which      cannot wait but are not deemed serious enough for A&E.

* First available routine appointment with any doctor or nurse.     These will be allocated to you on arrival for the appointment.

* Routine appointment with a doctor or nurse of your choice.

* Telephone consultation.

* Web GP Consultation.

Morning appointments are released at 8.00 and afternoon appointments are released at 13.30 each day. 

Pre-bookable appointments are available up to four weeks in advance.

We train our receptionists to triage the appointment requests.  This enables them to book you with the most appropriate clinician. Some conditions are quickly and very properly dealt with by our nurses. They are each trained and have expertise in different areas.  This does not mean you cannot see a doctor but a nurse appointment may be quicker and dealt with just as efficiently.

Our doctors also have their own individual specialities as well.  Some undertake joint injections and some do not.  We have a diabetes specialist, a skin specialist and another who has surgical skills, therefore if your needs are such that an expert doctor or a trained nursed will be best then that is who the receptionist would try to book you with. 

All of our receptionists adhere to the code of confidentiality; they are fully trained members of staff who have all received DBS (CRB) checks.  They have all signed confidentiality clauses and are appropriately trained on information governance and confidentiality issues.  They are requested to ask what the appointment is for in order to help and guide patients to the correct member of our team.  We do not expect our patients to explain in full detail.  Just a general idea of the problem is usually sufficient. 

We appreciate that there may be occasions where you do not feel comfortable with disclosing personal or sensitive information, in cases like this, you would still be treated with the same sensitivity and if you feel that your problem does require an urgent appointment then subject to availability, an appointment will still be offered.

If you attend the surgery in person for an appointment but are conscious of other patients hearing your conversation with the receptionist then we are able to take you to a private area to discuss your appointment request. 

We now also have a policy in the surgery of requesting patients to wait until they are called to the desk to allow for patient confidentiality for those who are there in person or on the telephone.
